Dr. Laing was the Principal at North Park when I was a first year art teacher -- I will always remember her as being fair and really caring about the students and staff. She was instrumental and helping our school start our Nature Center and there are several huge blue spruce trees in the Nature Center that were transplanted from her yard. They were so little when they were planted over 21 years ago. She has a living legacy at North Park in those trees!
My thoughts and prayers are with your family, Julie Trafton, Art Teacher, North Park Elementary

I spent many hours with Ann in all kinds of meetings, on committees, at IEP meetings, and just talking about family, challenges, and political views. She was a remarkable woman for how she could listen, assess a situation, share her views without insult, and could cut to the chase in some incredibly challenging situations in which we were both involved. I learned so much from her; I totally enjoyed her; she is forever in my head and heart. My sincere condolences to her family.

My deepest sympathies go out to you. We will miss Ann in Racine. I was a teacher in the Racine Unified School District and for many years my path crossed with Ann's. She was the BEST director of Special Education and the BEST superintendent we had. I am adding a link to my old website, and right on the home page are a couple of pictures of Ann that you might enjoy looking at. http://mrsgloedesclass.blogspot.com We loved Dr. Laing, and we are so sorry for your loss.

Brian and I were very sad to learn that Anna Marie had passed away. We will keep the family in our thoughts and prayers. Anna Marie visited my classroom at Columbia Elementary during the 1980's while I was teaching at Columbia Elementary in Logansport, Indiana. Anna Marie was an education coordinator at that time for the Logansport Communtiy School Corporation. Many years later, Brian and I were in Logansport for Christmas, and we saw Anna Marie at the grocery store on 17th Street. Anna Marie was also back home for the holidays. As you know, all three of us were classmates in the LHS Class of 1960. A card was sent to Mike's Auto Service.

I was privileged to work for Ann as a teacher both as a fourth grade teacher at North Park and back in my chosen field as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher (when she was Director of Special Education and then Superintendent). She was passionate about educating children. She helped me out several times. I am so so sorry for your loss.

Ann you were an amazing woman. You were always understand, never quick to judge and lived with a smile on your face. (except when you PRETENDED TO BE MEAN, when it was time to discipline me.) It was a joy to not only know you as a principal, but also as a friend in adulthood. You will be missed.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
