Marie Theresa Brugh, 87 of Logansport passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025. The Lord took her into His arms as she passed.
She was on born May 14, 1938, in Providence, Rhode Island.
Marie was the life of every gathering—known for her unmistakable, infectious laugh that could brighten any room and instantly let you know she was there.
Marie was a proud Italian-American woman who celebrated her heritage every single day—rarely letting a day go by without enjoying some form of pasta. Her parents, Antonio and Christina Bertone, instilled in her a deep sense of family, resilience, and pride. Marie’s father, Antonio Bertone, was born on February 16, 1900, and immigrated to Ellis Island from Italy in October 1906 at the age of six with his father, Luigi Bertone. Together, they arrived with just $3 to their name—a symbol of the strength and determination that ran in Marie’s blood. Her mother’s maiden name was Bellafonti, further adding to the richness of her Italian roots.
Though she spent most of her life in Indiana, Marie never stopped referring to Rhode Island as “out east” and considered it her true home. In keeping with her wishes, her ashes will one day be returned to the ocean near her beloved Rhode Island.
She loved to travel, particularly by bus or train, often heading to her favorite casinos—especially Blue Chip Casino—to enjoy the one-arm bandits and soak in the energy of new places. Marie was an avid people person and felt most alive in the company of others, whether at clubs around town or surrounded by loved ones. If you ever heard laughter echoing through a room, it was likely hers—bold, warm, and unforgettable.
Marie weathered many of life’s storms with incredible grace, always striving to stay positive despite personal tragedies.
Marie spent many enjoyable years with her two beloved husbands—Lowell Webb and, later in life, Johnny Brugh. They shared a life filled with love and laughter and traveled on many adventures together. With each of them, she created lasting memories, laughter, and love that carried her through the years.
She is preceded in death by a baby boy who was born sleeping.
She is survived by her four children: Christine Denny (Jerry), Wes Webb (Beth), Lenny Webb (Carol), and John Webb (Amy); her beloved grandchildren: Brad Rozzi (Lyndsey), Josh Rozzi (Kelly), Ashley Webb (Peyton), and Aaron Webb (Christina); and her sister, Anna Palumbo (Eddie), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Per Marie’s wishes, she will be cremated and requested no formal services or visitation. She wanted to be remembered in life, not in death. As her family plans to return her ashes to her spiritual home by the sea, we ask that you remember Marie in your own special way.
When you think of Marie, raise a glass to the sky and toast her memory—she’ll be right there with you, laughing along.
In lieu of cards and flowers, please consider making a donation to your local animal shelter in Marie’s honor.
