Lois Berry

Lois V. Berry, 90 of Royal Center passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on June 29, 1933 in Royal Center, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Hoeflin) Schmaltz.

She was a 1951 Royal Center High School graduate.

On August 30, 1953 she married Wayne R. Berry, he preceded her in death on December 6, 2015.

Lois was a lifelong farm wife and formerly worked the Credit Bureau and Logansport Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria for over 20 years.

She was a member of the Royal Center United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of Eastern Star. Lois enjoyed sewing, gardening, feeding the hummingbirds and was also an avid White Sox, Purdue and Pioneer Football fan. Lois had a strong work ethic working into her 80s and loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Dean Berry (Peggy) of Royal Center, Gary Berry (Janice) of Macon, Illinois and Brad Berry (Sue Ann) of Monticello, and grandchildren, Amanda Kennedy (Charlie), Kent Berry (Caity), Jennifer Williams, Chad Berry (Stephanie), Scot Berry (Sharlie) and Adam Berry (Krystle). She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 2 great  great grandchildren and 3 on the way. She is also survived by sister in law, Betty Goodrich (Howard) and brother in law, Jon Berry (Nancy) of Royal Center.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Glen Schmaltz and Robert “Bob” Schmaltz.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, Royal Center with Pastor Candice Hinkle officiating. 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to New Hope Lutheran Church, 401 W. 2nd St., Reynolds, Indiana.
