Janice Marie (Hattery) Agnew, 79, of Rochester, passed away peacefully at home the morning of November 5, 2025.
Jan was born in Kosciusko county on August 23, 1946, to the late George and Nora (Kissinger) Hattery. Jan shared a loving childhood, with her brother Rod. She graduated from Kewanna in 1964 and went on to later retire from Medtronic in Warsaw.
She is survived by her “three boys” Jarrod Mathew (Amy) of Rochester, Jeremy Michael (Angela) of Carmel, and Joshua Martin of Rochester. Her beloved Grandchildren; Zachary Kyle of Fort Wayne, Alexis Lauren of Indianapolis, and Mia Claire of Carmel. She is also leaving behind her loyal dog, Milo.
To relax Jan loved to crochet; blankets, hot pads/washcloths gifting them to her friends and family. Jan had a love for reading; quickly building a library of all genres in her home. When not reading; you could find Jan doing crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp. Cooking was also a passion that she handed down to those she loved. When Jan was not in the kitchen she could be found in her garden; tending to her Morning Glories, Daylillies, Irises, and her rose bushes. She loved to plant and dry the herbs and spices she grew in her garden. Always fond of animals; Jan grew a small farm to love, tend, and care for.
Welcoming Jan to her heavenly home are her parents George and Nora Hattery; brother Rod Hattery, and granddaughter Britney Marie Agnew.
A private celebration of life will be held by immediate family. In lieu of flowers a memorial can be made in Jan’s name to the Fulton County Animal Education and Adoption Center, 1540 Wentzel St., Rochester, IN 46975.
Her online guestbook is available and condolences can be shared with the family at www.ransfuneralhomes.com.
