Harry L. Heater, 89, of Logansport, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.
Born January 12, 1937, in Logansport, he was the son of the late William and Beatrice (Daily) Heater. Harry was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. He later graduated from Logansport High School in 1955.
Following high school, Harry worked for Western Union until 1957, when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country.
Harry’s lifelong career ambition was to follow in the footsteps of his father, uncle, and grandfather in the railroad industry. He fulfilled that dream, working for CSX/Conrail Railroad for 33 years before retiring in 2001.
Harry was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marietta A. (Greiner) Heater of Logansport; grandchildren Addison (Brittney) Nicoll, Ian (Michael) Nicoll, Dane (Tyler) Nicoll, Austin (Crystal) Hunter, Ethan (Ruth) Hunter, Miles Hunter, and Haylee (Andrew) Wamsley; stepchildren Doug (Vicky) Greiner, Daniel (Erica) Greiner, and Dennis (Nancy) Greiner; step-grandchildren Nikita (Jerad) Parsons, Mikayla Greiner, Brandon (Ellen) Greiner, and Tiffany (Noel) Greiner; along with several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Crawford Heater; daughters, Jodi Nicoll and Jennifer Hunter.
Services with military rites will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2026 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Marocco Chapel, 119 E. Market St., Logansport with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research.
