George D. Hendrickson

George D. Hendrickson, 86 of Grass Creek passed away at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 25, 2015 at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester.

Born on January 28, 1929 in South Bend, he was the son of the late Florance and Frances (Elliott) Hendrickson.  On June 29, 1963 he married Marge N. Lloyd, she survives.

He was a 1947 Grass Creek High School graduate and a 1951 Indiana University graduate.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.

George retired in 1977 from National City Bank in Logansport as a banker.  He also was formerly a bank examiner at FDIC.  George was a woodcutter and carpenter who made and sold music instrument cases.

He was a 50 year member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge #79, Scottish Rite, Shrine Club, Grass Creek Lions Club and the VFW #1121 in Kewanna. George was also a longtime Treasurer and Board Member of the Grass Creek Cemetery.  He enjoyed woodworking, cemetery preservation, telling stories and helping anybody in need.

Survivors include his wife, Marge Hendrickson of Grass Creek, son, Staff Sgt., Charles D. Hendrickson (Anna) of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, daughter, Margaret E. Martin (Michael) of Zionsville, grandchildren, Marisa Hendrickson, Joshua Martin, Andrew Martin and step grandchildren, Bradley Dickison, Joshua Dickison, Michael Martin and Tiffany Colsten.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Wineland.

A Celebration of George’s Life will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Homes, Kewanna Chapel with Pastor David Sommers officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the funeral home where there will also be a Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m.   Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Burial with Military Rites performed will be at Grass Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity in his memory.
