Florence E. Polen

Services for Florence E. (Sims) Polen, 101, of Logansport will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 17, 2007 at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.

She passed away at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Logansport.

Born November 3, 1905 in Royal Center, she was the daughter of the late N.B. and Pearl (Holmes) Sims. She was a 1923 graduate of Winamac High School.

On October 12, 1924 she married William Polen Jr. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1965.

Mrs. Polen was a homemaker who lived most of her life on a dairy farm in the farm communities of Winamac and Kewanna. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers. She was known for her crocheted nylon scratchers. Crystal Cathedral was her favorite T.V. program. She loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughter, Lois M. (Darl) Harvey; 12 grandchildren, Diana (Bill) Marten, Darlene (Mike) Thompson, Nancy (Gary) Arnett, Miriam VanSickle, Rick Polen, Terry (Holly) Polen, Peggy (Curt) Benson, Cindy (John) Schirm, Tracey (Carl) Scott, Debra (Stan) Young, Michael (Renda) Harvey and Brian (Missy) Harvey; 25 Great Grandchildren, 12 Step-Great Grandchildren and 19 Great, Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 sons, William Jr., Allen and Edward Polen, 1 brother and 6 sisters.

Friends may call from 4:00-7:00p.m., Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.

Pastor Ken Smith will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Kewanna.
