Eric Alan Tipton, 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

 Eric was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Virginia (Mathis) Tipton and sister Jan (Tipton) Lewis.

 Eric is survived by his wife of 53 years Judith (Thews) Tipton of Fort Wayne, and his two sons Stacy Tipton of Fort Wayne, and Brett Tipton of Indianapolis.

He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and grew up in Union City, Georgia, where he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track at Campbell High School 63'. 

After attending Middle Georgia College, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-70, including a tour in Vietnam. 

Following his military service, Eric moved to California where he later met his wife, Judy. He started his career with the United States Postal Service in Santa Ana, California, before transferring to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he retired after 35+ years.

 Eric was incredibly proud of his two sons. Some of his greatest joys came from watching and celebrating their many sports accomplishments.

 In his spare time he enjoyed playing guitar, riding his motorcycle, golfing, walking his dogs, watching old movies, and traveling to MLB/MiLB ballparks across the country. 

The family will hold a private gathering at a later date to celebrate Eric’s life and share memories.
