Elaine M. Mathis, 82 of Marion passed away peacefully at 2:20 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2026 at Vita of Marion Healthcare in Marion.

Elaine graduated from Van Buren High School in 1961 and IU Kokomo with a Bachelor in Business in 1986. She worked over 20 years at Foster Forbes Glass Co. in Marion.

She loved animals of all kinds, big heart for a stray. She was a pet groomer for several years. Loved to cook different foods for her family and friends. Loved to travel to new places. Loved genealogy which led her to travel to Switzerland by herself to meet relatives. She was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Colonists.

Elaine is survived by Joe (Jenny) Mathis (son) of Cameron TX, Pat (Ron) Isenhart (sister) of Marion IN, Josh (Sarah) Isenhart (nephew) of Marion IN, Christy (Tom) McConihay (niece) of Gilbert AZ, and lots of cousins.

Elaine is preceded in death by her mother Alma Jean Davis and father Charles E. Mathis.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Star City Cemetery.

Any donation should be directed to your local Animal Humane Society in her honor if you so wish.

Cremation has taken place at Indiana Central Crematory owned and operated by Rans Funeral Homes.
