Dorothy Cornell

Services for Dorothy (Stoner) Cornell, 76, of Winamac, will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 11:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, Winamac.

Mrs. Cornell passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 in Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

Born January 2, 1931 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Emory Wayne and Frances Vera (Thompson) Stoner.  On August 15, 1953 she married Thomas H. Cornell, he survives.

She was a 1953 graduate of Michigan State University.

An elementary school teacher for Midland Public Schools, she retired in 1988 after 35 years and moved to Sun City, Arizona and returned to Winamac in 2007.

She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and Kappa Kappa Gama, East Lansing.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas H. Cornell, Winamac; 1 son, David E. Cornell, Rancho Cucamonga, California; 1 daughter, Patricia J. Ploss (Tony), Winamac; 2 grandchildren, Dawson and Rachel Ploss.

She is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Betty Jean Craver and Phyllis Swayman.

Pastor Steve Fritchman will officate at the services.

Inurnment will be in Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, Arizona at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the First United Methodist Church, 201 East Spring St. Winamac, IN. 46996.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison-Metzger Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel.
