David P. Nehring, 52, of Camden passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at home.

Born on July 22, 1973 in Bloomington, he was the son of Darrel and Mary Ann (Bauman) Nehring.

David faced the challenge of Down’s Syndrome and related heart defects privately. He had a quiet reverence in All Saints Catholic Church.

He shared with classmates in special education under the leadership of Jenny Maxwell and Tia Turner. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1992.

David had been a Special Olympics athlete for eight years and was a magnet to the many people who knew him from school activities.

He enjoyed oldies and religious music, jigsaw puzzles, three point basketball shots and eating pizza.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ann Barkey, sister, Juliette Nehring, brothers, Robert, Matthew, Lloyd, Vincent and Glenn Johnson and 34 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Darrel.

A heartfelt thanks to our friends and family for many acts if Kindness during David’s life with us. We want to savor those good times and difficult moments in remembrance of a special person he was for 52 years. His family is spread across the country, and we are planning to gather for David’s Day when all can celebrate. Hugs to you.

Burial will be at St. Jacobs Catholic Cemetery in North Judson at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to All Saints Catholic Church.
