Carl Michael Emmerd

Carl Michael “Mike” Emmerd, 71, of Mexico, Indiana passed away peacefully at 8:17 a.m., Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his residence.

Born on June 30, 1947 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Donald Emmerd and Martha Reeser.

He was a 1965 Logansport High School graduate.

Mike was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam as a combat engineer.

On September 4, 2010 he married Lora Gray, she survives.

Mike was a retired railroader.  He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and playing cards. Mike was also passionate about spending time with family and friends where he was known to most as “Papa” and living life his way.

Survivors include his wife, Lora Emmerd of Mexico, children, Michael Shane Emmerd (Melinda) of Mahomet, Illinois, Glenn Cunningham of Peru, Kristee Ulerick of Kentucky, Fawnia Emmerd of Logansport and Jennifer Holcomb of Logansport and 9 grandchildren, Hailey, Ryan, Cayla, Tyler, Robert, Thomas, Austin (Lauren), Lexi and Hunter.  He is also survived by his beloved dog, Heidi.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bunnie Lou Emmerd and sisters, Brenda and Judy.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel & Crematory with Full Military Rites performed at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
