Blanche J. Collins, 85 of Navarre, Florida formerly of Kewanna, Indiana passed away at 9:30 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2007 at her residence.

Born on October 8, 1921 in Royal Center, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Hicks) Gidley.

She was a member of the Kewanna United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Kewanna, Indiana, the Elkettes, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and she had also been active in Cubs Scouts and other civic activities. Blanche also organized the Learning Lab at Chesterfield Marlborough Technical College, Cheraw, South Carolina, and taught students for approximately 4 years to qualify for college or to attain a GED.

She was a 1939 Graduate of Kewanna High School, and a Homemaker who was an expert in needlepoint, ceramics and macromet.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Collins of Navarre, Florida, 1 son, K. Max Collins of Fredricksburg, Virginia, 1 daughter, Mary Ellen Collins Hudkins of Pensacola, Florida, and 4 Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1 son Larry, and twin daughters.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday October 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Kewanna, Indiana with Rev. Stephen L. McPeek officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison- Metzger Funeral Homes, Kewanna Chapel.
